The 3rd Caspian Forum of Foreign Students has officially been opened at Astrakhan State University today.

The event has been arranged by the Unit of Strategic Planning & Student Projects Management of ASU. Its goal is to discuss issues of foreign students’ social adaptation in Russia, their holiday employment, and preservation of their national cultures outside their home countries.
It was Dr. Anisette Gabriel Kochofa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Benin in the Russian Federation and the CIS, and Dr. Yao Nicaise Adu, President of the Foreign Students Association in Russia, who are guests of honor at the Forum.

In his welcoming speech, Professor Alexander Lunyov, Rector of ASU, emphasized how important it is to increase the number of foreign students coming to get education in Russia. “A new process begins, and that process implies stimulation of foreigners who got a higher education in Russia to work in real sectors of economy”, he remarked. According to our Rector, “it is talented young people who are the main condition to achieve success. That’s why education of foreign students makes it possible to apply Russia’s and our foreign partners’ potential at a new level”.

As for Dr. Kochofa, he said that Russian education is a unique school that trains qualified specialists. “Astrakhan State University works a lot to help its foreign students adapt in Russia. The fact that it is this very University where citizens of foreign countries wish to get education is one of the main rates, which indicate the degree of our countries’ integration with the world community”, he pointed out.

Both experts and participants of the Forum agreed that foreign students should definitely play an important role in educational, public, social, and project-oriented activities.

The Forum was continued as a part of the SeliAs Youth Forum of Southern Russia. Our foreign guests will take part in discussing Russia’s role in the development of the Caspian littoral region, as well as the international legal status of the Caspian Sea and cooperation in the field of security. An eventful educational and cultural program is awaiting the participants of the 3rd Caspian Forum of Foreign Students in Astrakhan.
