ASU becomes a venue for the Astrakhan Orthodox Folk Forum.

On Sept. 22, 2015, the section “Youth & Faith” of the Astrakhan Orthodox Folk Forum has been hosted by Astrakhan State University. It was clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church whose representatives have become our distinguished guests – His Eminence Bishop Antoniy (Azizov), Reverend Roman (Skolota), Reverend Vitaliy (Semyonov), and Professor Alexei Osipov from Moscow Theological Academy. The latter has given a lecture related to the moral state of the modern society. In his lecture, Prof. Osipov has pointed out that a modern human’s desire for comfort is frequently accompanied with envy, money grubbing, pride, and arrogance, which, in its turn, provokes regression in the social development. As for His Eminence Antoniy, he has wished each of the meeting participants felt a strong desire to learn and understand the real meaning of life. The questions, which our students asked the distinguished guests actively, confirm that a viable dialogue between the church and the state is indeed of high importance.
