ASU Celebrates English Literature Classic’s Birthday with an Exhibition
The library of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Astrakhan State University has organized the exhibition “Theory of ‘art for art’s sake’ in Oscar Wilde’s works”, timed to 165th anniversary of the writer’s birth.
Oscar Wilde represents the cult of distinctiveness, estheticism and dandyism not only in literature but in everyday life as well. He is famous for his plays, full of paradoxes, proverbial phrases and aphorisms, as well as for his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (1891).
The reading hall of the Faculty of Foreign Languages is displaying works by Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde in Russian and English, as well as various publications on his life and work.
The exhibition will last till the late October.
