Sturgeon Breeding Research & Educational Center

Accelerated development of sturgeon breeding is the only viable opportunity to preserve unique relict sturgeon species of fish, owing to a catastrophic reduction in its natural population. This area of fishery is developing rapidly in a number of countries over the last 20-30 years. At the same time, surgeon breeders experience considerable difficulties: a shortage of modern scientific developments and literature, a deficient number of qualified specialists.

Our main goals are as follows:

• to increase efficiency of scientific researches by consolidating efforts and resources;
• to perform innovative activities and assist entrepreneurial activities;
• to provide professional training and retraining of specialists in top-priority areas of science and technologies based on the most modern knowledge;
• to publish scientific, regulating, and methodic literature related to sturgeon breeding.

Our particular tasks are as follows:

• to create a research and methodical base in sturgeon breeding;
• to provide professional training and retraining of specialists in sturgeon breeding based on the most modern knowledge with all interested parties;
• to develop cooperation with research and educational institutions;
• to develop new progressive forms of innovative activities; cooperation with research and experimental fishery facilities, farms, and other institutions to tackle the most crucial research, technological, and educational tasks on a joint basis;
• to extend international cooperation with educational institutions and business companies to participate in the world science and education;
• to develop the financial R & D base by applying non-budget assets and innovative activities.

Our functions are as follows:

• Professional training and retraining of specialists in sturgeon breeding based on our research activities and efficient application of our innovative potential;
• Undertaking of fundamental, searching, and applied research and experimental works;
• Performance of our research activities and execution of works on the base of agreements signed with our customers;
• Participation in executing federal and regional research programs and projects;
• Development of innovative structures;
• Development of information resources;
• Arrangement of conferences, seminars, meetings, symposiums, seminars, schools, and other scientific events;
• Development of international cooperation.
